Postsecondary Planning: Using indicator 13 to Develop Compliant, Results-Driven Transition Plans

Price: $250.00

Presented by Amy Szymanski, M.Ed.

IDEA Part B Indicator 13 requires schools to ensure IEPs include a compliant transition plan with appropriate measurable postsecondary goals. School staff can use the Common Core State Standards to ensure transition planning aligns with college and work expectations. What's more, OSEP's new "Results-Driven Accountability" initiative provides schools an opportunity to maintain IDEA compliance and help students achieve successful post-school outcomes.

In this 90-minute recorded audio conference, Transition Consultant Amy Szymanski explains a method to achieve both a compliant and results-focused transition plan to promote college and career readiness for students with disabilities.

You and your staff learn to:

  • Identify the elements of IDEA Part B Indicator 13
  • Write a compliant IEP transition plan based on Indicator 13
  • Design instruction to foster transition-related skills using the Common Core State Standards
  • Account for OSEP's recent guidance that work placements must reflect LRE principles
  • Improve collaborative and coordinated transition planning among schools, students, families and secondary/postsecondary service providers
