Discover how to build programs centered around developing the various critical skills young adults with autism need to function in the community. Strategies for community-referenced transition planning and collaborative program development will be shared, emphasizing social competence, employment and independent living skills. Nancy Hinkley will illustrate how these goals can be accomplished within educational environments and IEP structures through connecting community-referenced education to core academic standards and courses. Kristi Sakai, a parent of children with autism, will discuss successful collaborations that strategically link families, agencies and schools.

The 32nd National Institute was held May 1-4, 2011 in Phoenix. MP3 Audio CDs can be played on any MP3 compatible player including PC, laptop, DVD player, portable CD/MP3 player, and even some MP3 compatible car CD players. MP3 files can be easily transferred to portable MP3 players such as an iPod.
