This course will examine policies and procedures regarding medication administration, personal care procedures for maintaining student and paraeducator hygiene, invasive and noninvasive procedures on feeding, and how to handle food allergies. The module is NOT intended to be considered as training to provide medical procedures to students or others.

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

• Identify procedures as noninvasive and invasive, and illnesses as chronic or acute.
• Restate policies and procedures regarding medical procedures and protocols for students.
• Describe the parameters of the role of the paraeducator with emergency situations.
• Explain why you should not implement certain medical procedures as a paraeducator.
• Complete the module assessment with 80 percent mastery.
