This course will examine what it means to communicate effectively as a person and as a paraeducator. The module also examines communication vocabulary, situational communication, barriers to effective communication, and skills and tips to improve communication.

• Define terminology used in this course that relates to school discipline.
• Paraphrase what a paraeducator needs to know about disciplining students with disabilities.
• Describe the protections under IDEA that are afforded to students with disabilities that relate to discipline.
• Apply knowledge from this course to recognize and protect the rights of students with disabilities.
• Complete the module assessment with 80 percent mastery.
