This course is designed to explain the process of data collection in the response to intervention system through the elements of collection, analysis and interpretation. The course will discuss how to get teachers to “buy in” to RTI, as well as the role of a school team in designing criteria. Examples will be given of how to gather data in the classroom. Graphing the results from data collection and interpreting the meaning of those results will be included.

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognize the role that data plays in the early intervention of struggling students.
  • Identify appropriate tools for collecting data.
  • Design a curriculum-based measurement assessment.
  • Read graphs to determine the responsiveness or non-responsiveness of learners to interventions, and interpret the results in order to make sound instructional decisions.
  • Complete chapter assessments with 100 percent mastery and the final assessment with 80 percent mastery.
