Least Restrictive Environment - Training Module Six is part of Paraeducators: LifeLines in the Classroom Training Modules Series.
Each Training Module provides solid instruction on key content knowledge and collaborative skills - so your paraeducators learn how to effectively meet the needs of students with disabilities and, at the same time, receive ongoing training and professional development as required under NCLB and IDEA.
Each Training Module can be used independently or as part of a comprehensive training package and includes:
- A CD-ROM containing participant handouts, as well as overheads and resources
- Suggested timing, content breaks, pacing and activities for a single 6-hour session, two 3-hour sessions or four 1-1/2 hour sessions
- Facilitator tips to create and provide an inviting learning environment along with resources for brushing up on topics, such as glossaries and definitions of must-know legal terms
Least Restrictive Environment examines the concept behind least restrictive environments and varying levels of student support - so paraeducators understand how support levels apply to instruction and activities in the classroom. Plus, this Training Module provides strategies that support independent student learning and instructional support techniques to address specific content areas. Practice exercises and model forms show: how to determine different levels of support for individual needs and environments; the information needed to support the inclusion process - along with ideas and formats to organize and document data; ways to establish and maintain open communication with the partner teacher to facilitate inclusion and learning; and much more.
