For the training facilitator …conduct quality staff training with minimum planning effort!
Behavior Improvement Strategies - Training Module Five is part of Paraeducators: LifeLines in the Classroom Training Modules Series.
Each Training Module provides solid instruction on key content knowledge and collaborative skills - so your paraeducators learn how to effectively meet the needs of students with disabilities and, at the same time, receive ongoing training and professional development as required under NCLB and IDEA.
Each Training Module can be used independently or as part of a comprehensive training package and includes:
- A CD-ROM containing participant handouts, as well as overheads and resources
- Suggested timing, content breaks, pacing and activities for a single 6-hour session, two 3-hour sessions or four 1-1/2 hour sessions
- Facilitator tips to create and provide an inviting learning environment along with resources for brushing up on topics, such as glossaries and definitions of must-know legal terms
Behavior Improvement Strategies coaches participants on the key concepts, components and purposes for behavior improvement and discipline contingency plans - and the paraeducators' role in theses processes.
Through practice drills, trainees get hands-on experience learning how to: classify student behaviors and determine which behaviors to target for interventions; recognize the function behind a behavior and identify the consequences that reinforce the recurrence of behavior; select, apply and evaluate appropriate behavior strategies to address behavior improvement; choose suitable and effective reinforcers; and more.
